Real and Online Friendships (Loneliness)

Brand new content developed in line with the 2026 Statutory Guidance!

This Year 4 lesson explores the differences between online and real-life friendships, and how both can affect how happy, included, or lonely we feel.

Pupils will learn that online chats and games can be fun and help us stay in touch, but they cannot fully replace spending time with people in person.

The lesson also covers why it’s normal to feel lonely sometimes, that not everyone will always have the friends they would like, and the importance of seeking real-life connections and support when needed.
