Read the end of the story and write the rest.
Read the final part of the story to your class and ask them to see if they can be imaginative and creative and think up what story line might have convincingly led up to that situation. Encourage them to make some outline notes and discuss their ideas with a partner. Then set them the task of writing the story from the beginning all the way up to the end as stated.
Then ask a few to read out their whole story, complete with the ending as shown.
