This is a lesson I used myself to teach the Nutrient Cycles concept of the Energy Transfers Unit - A level Biology, AQA specification.

Learning objective: To describe and explain the key processes in the nitrogen and phosphorus cycles and evaluate the impact of human activities on nutrient availability and ecosystem productivity.

By the end of the lesson learners should be able to:

SC1: I can describe the steps and microorganisms involved in the nitrogen and phosphorus cycles.

SC2: I can explain how human practices like fertiliser use affect nutrient cycles and ecosystem health.

SC3: I can analyse environmental problems such as eutrophication and propose strategies to reduce their impact.
