This is a lesson I used myself to teach the Molecular Kinetic Theory Model concept of the Thermal Physics Unit - A level Physics, AQA specification.
Learning objective: To understand and apply the molecular kinetic theory of gases, including derivations and the link between particle motion, temperature, and pressure.
By the end of the lesson learners should be able to:
Success criteria:
SC1: I can state and explain the assumptions behind the kinetic theory model.
SC2: I can apply kinetic theory equations to calculate quantities such as pressure, kinetic energy, and root mean square speed.
SC3: I can interpret physical implications of the model (e.g. Brownian motion as evidence for molecular motion).
