What is this resource?

A challenge to create an Easter Egg that appeals to specific market segments/ target market. The rationale is to get the students thinking about the marketing mix in a tangible way. It includes 2 shuffle terms tasks (4P’s and pricing strategies) to embed theory which is then explored further in the context of product design and creation. The resource is split into sections to allow key analysis of each of the design choices - the PowerPoint follows the work sheet so you can teach it in sections or for year 11 revision purposes, let the kids run with it at their own pace. It is likely to take a minimum of two lessons but could be stretched over 4 or 5 depending on what you want to do with it. For example, you could make it a ‘Dragon’s Den/ Shark Tank’ activity and have a lesson judging the designs.

Who is it aimed at?

Year 10 and 11 GCSE students (and possibly year 12 students who have not studied at GCSE level). It is a fun activity that could last up to 4 lessons, depending on how deep you want to run it. You could explore the students designs at the end.

What does it include?

PDF work sheet with theory and questions.
Teacher’s PPT to run along side the worksheet.
The PPT has:

  • Do Now task
  • 4p’s shuffle terms
  • Pricing strategies shuffle term/ whiteboard task.
  • Key term blast throughout: test or teach.

How do I use it?

Print the work sheets and run through the PPT: you can run it as an independent task, As an introduction to the marketing mix and pricing or incrementally progressing together. It works well in pairs or individually.
