

This 90-minute lesson plan introduces Grade 1–3 students to the meaning and history of Father’s Day through an engaging video, interactive discussion, and hands-on activities. Using the animated YouTube video “Father’s Day” students learn about the origins of the celebration, including stories of Sonora Dodd and Grace Golden Clayton.
The lesson begins with a warm-up discussion, followed by a video viewing and guided comprehension questions. Students then complete a colorful worksheet with true/false questions, matching activities, a crossword, a wordsearch, and a drawing task to reinforce understanding. The lesson concludes with a creative card-making activity where students design heartfelt Father’s Day cards and write short thank-you messages to their dads or caregivers.
