The focus of this lesson are for students to know

  • The difference between the atom and molecule of an element
  • The difference between molecule of an element and a compound
  • How to interpret formula for molecules
  • What binary compounds are and how to name them
  • Interpret the formula of a compounds in terms of the different elements and total atoms.
  • How to use masses of atoms carry out simple calculations of molecular masses.

There are a lot of practice questions and mark schemes to support this lesson.
