Like a peacock, encourage your students to show off their skills. Lift their feathers high and support them to implement all of the KS2 grammar and writing techniques you have covered.

I gave this lesson where we wrote a sentence, then we improved it step by step:

The car drove past the chocolate factory.

Vocabulary:

The car sped past the chocolate factory.

Grammar:

The rusty car, with smoke coming from the exhaust, sped past the chocolate factory.

Punctuation:

The rusty car, with smoke coming from the exhaust, sped past the chocolate factory; the smell of chocolate did not slow it down, however.

Figurative language:

As fast as lightning, the rusty car, with smoke coming from the exhaust like a cloud of death, sped past the chocolate factory; the smell of chocolate did not slow it down, however.
