IntroduceTwelfth Night to primary aged children in a fun and exciting way.
This is a comedy. The children will love the absurdity of it.
No expert knowledge of Shakespeare required.
No lengthy teachers notes.
No heavy chunks of text to analyse,
Just an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful story, with some carefully chosen dialogue to support it.
I’ve always been keen to introduce Shakespeare to children at a young age and I’m passionate about children leaving primary school with an understanding of Shakespeare and why his plays are still so popular.
My method was to sit the children in a circle and hand out parts to those who were keen to join in (sticky labels would do it). I then told the story and asked the characters to act out the scene. It always led to lots of laughter - even the tragedies - and the children always showed a good understanding of these very old stories.
Parents love it too! I received great feedback from parents who were delighted their child came home so excited about Shakespeare.
Enjoy. And please let me know how you get on…
