This resource is available as individuals, if you would rather pick and choose which texts to cover.
I have included five non-fiction texts (blog, review, short story, news article, travel guide) in-line with Eduqas A-Level English Language Component 3: Creative and Critical Language to aid students with their analysis of non-fiction texts and writing commentaries. There is an example of each, followed by questions to stimulate students’ thinking e.g. ‘What language features have they included?’ and ‘What is the PAFT of each text?’
I put these resources together for my A-Level students who were struggling to apply their language analysis to their own creative writing and their commentaries. By stripping it back to basics and looking at the works of other writers, it enabled the class to pull out language and analyse how/why the choices were made and the intention of the writers given the PAFT.
My class worked in paired groups and attempted each sheet as a carousel, which meant there was 1-2 lessons worth of work.
