In this wonderfully planned lesson students start with a ‘do now’ starter where they have to compare a number of concepts using whole curriculum knowledge.
The lesson leads them to a compare task focusing on the compare command word. Leads them through six tasks focusing on different tricky areas, and elicits higher order thinking skills. Best for revising and challenging with students working at grade 8 and 9 as relies on solid chemistry knowledge. Great for an observation and great to stretch and make students think. Topics covered are metal extraction, nitrogen fertilisers, conductivity of substance, displacement reactions, reaction pathways (atom economy/yield) and electrolytic cells.
Includes extension work.
