This is a set of progressively more challenging gap-fill sheets to help students learn key quotations for the Edexcel Conflict poetry cluster.

Begin by giving students the completed quotations to learn. I then give them a week to practise them and give them the next sheet to complete either independently or in groups.

This has had tremendous results for my students, all of whom are now feeling much more confident about sitting the poetry exam!

COMPLETE BUNDLE Edexcel Conflict Poetry Cluster GCSE 9-1 - All 15 Poems!

This bundle includes full lessons and resources for all 15 poems in the new Edexcel Conflict Poetry Cluster for the 9-1 GCSE exam. Buying them in this bundle saves over 50% compared to buying the poems separately! Poems covered include: 鈥 Half-Caste - John Agard 鈥 Catrin - Gillian Clarke 鈥 War Photographer - Carole Satyamurti 鈥 The Class Game - Mary Casey 鈥 No Problem 鈥 Benjamin Zephaniah 鈥 What Were They Like? - Denise Levertov 鈥 Belfast Confetti - Ciaran Carson 鈥 Poppies - Jane Weir 鈥 A Poison Tree William Blake 鈥 The Charge of the Light Brigade - Alfred Tennyson 鈥 Extract from The Prelude - William Wordsworth 鈥 The Man He Killed - Thomas Hardy 鈥 Cousin Kate - Christina Rossetti 鈥 Exposure - Wilfred Owen 鈥 The Destruction of Sennacherib - Lord Byron I have also included a learning mat that can be used as a homework menu to supplement their in-class learning and a RAG rated grid for in their exercise books. I would highly recommend teaching 鈥楨xtract from the Prelude鈥 before 鈥楾he Destruction of Sennacherib鈥 as the former covers the basics of the Romantic Poets. Likewise, I would suggest teaching 鈥楾he Class Game鈥 before 鈥楾he Man He Killed鈥 as the first explores the conventions of Dramatic Monologues. If you find that any of the video links don鈥檛 work, please don鈥檛 hesitate to contact me and I鈥檒l send you them directly.
