This is a short unit focused on study ‘Dispatches’ by Michael Herr. It was originally created for use with the IB Diploma Language and Literature course, but could be adapted.
The unit is organised around the three Areas of Exploration:
- Readers, Writers and Texts - an analysis of Herr’s style
- Time and Space - work on understanding the political and cultural context of the 60s counter culture and the Vietnam War, and its links to ‘New Journalism.’
- Intertextuality - investigation into the links between Dispatches and Apocalypse Now.
