This Design Literacy resource is intended to supplement Design and Technology and may also cover topics in the curriculum subjects of Geography, Science, Maths, and Art and Design. It is a companion to the Climate Change All Change (CCAC) ‘Climate Literacy’ resource and is intended to provide background for the CCAC Co-design Climate Change programme. It can also be used as a stand-alone introduction into the subject of design.
The content of the resources derives from CCAC’s work with Year 5 children (9–10-year-olds) in UK state primary schools.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify starting points for design professional knowledge, activities, and understanding.
- Develop curiosity about what designers do, how they do it, and what they can achieve.
- Identify how their skills can be effectively used to mitigate the effects of climate change.
These resources were made by Climate Change All Change: a small charity that combines climate literacy with creative design to help address the challenges of the climate crisis. Read more about our aims and our work at
