KS3 Anglo-Saxon History lesson designed for Year 7-9 students.

This lesson’s objective is for students to understand how the Anglo-Saxons settled in Cheshire & Chester. To understand the significance of Ethelfleda in Chester and also Offa’s Dyke and the Sandbach Crosses.

This lesson tests a student’s ability to acquire research from different formats of information with engaging and interesting tasks. The lesson also teaches students how to understand context by introducing the Mercia Anglo-Saxon Kingdom which controlled the area. It also looks at some interesting Case Study locations further building on knowledge from previous lessons in Chester as well as closer to Wales at Offa’s Dyke. There is an analysis of the Sandach crosses for students to complete as a relic /artefact task.
