What’s included?
This download includes one A4, portrait pdf sheet to practise recognising the letters and order of the alphabet.
What’s it for?
This alphabet wheel has been designed to be an interactive way for learners to practise saying the sound of each letter of the alphabet. Learners turn the wheel, say what the picture is showing e.g. ‘monkey’ then the initial sound for that picture - ‘mmm’. As they turn the wheel learners may be able to predict which sound will be next (depending on how well they know the order of the alphabet). For a challenge learners could turn the wheel anticlockwise and see if they can recall the alphabet sounds backwards!
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
Dotted lines guide where to cut and where to create a hole. This resource will need to be printed onto card (or if printed on paper, glued to card afterwards) to ensure it is sturdy enough to be used by little hands. A single split pin is needed for this resource.
The layout includes x2 wheels, one for the ‘front’ (wheel 1) and one for the back - with the alphabet images on (wheel 2). Once assembled (according to instructions included on the pdf) the alphabet wheel can be turned to reveal one easy to recognise image at a time for every letter of the alphabet - in order (if wheel 1 is turned clockwise).
