This chapter from Champfleury’s ‘Les Chats – Histoires, Mœurs, Observations, Anecdotes’, gives a brief introduction to the importance of cats within ancient Egyptian culture.

Read a handful of facts about when cats were introduced to the country of the Pharaohs, how they were depicted in ancient Egyptian artwork, and what we still do not know about their significance. Then complete simple reading comprehension assignments to refine your comprehension and writing skills.

Contents

  • A list of phrases to translate.
  • A selection taken from the text (roughly 8o words long). Use for a dictée or for copywork (full instructions included)
  • A blank vocabulary list, personal to each student
  • An area in which the student may write a résumé of the text of a few sentences in their own words.
