It is designed for students who are Intermediate level /CEFR level B1/ . One of the main challenges ESL students have with the Past Continuous Tense is deciding which action is the main event and which action is interrupting it. This resource provides you, the teacher, with opportunities to help the students differentiate the 2 types of actions. There are also opportunities for students to analyse sentences (in context) and explain why the past continuous tense has been used.
It is a low prep/ready to go lesson with content that is interesting and relevant for adult students. Activities are a mix of individual, pair and group work.
This lesson can be used with a class - as an independent learning package or with online students… There are opportunities for differentiation if necessary.
