Based on a resource in the textbook Voilà 2. this PowerPoint offers further practice on manipulating the perfect tense in French. It will need updating in terms of players to modernise it over the years, but the French Perfect tense will stay the French Perfect tense.

A basic bingo game for a class of 24 students. The idea is that you read some English equivalent e.g. At what time? When? the train? Leaves? Is it? Direct? etc… Students cross off the Spanish. The extension work is for them to make up as many questions as possible using one card/ two cards etc… Could be split and used as noughts and crosses. Could be easily adapted to a snake and ladder game etc…

As it says on the tin, theses are questions to talk about topics of interest, a good ice-breaker too.

A simple worksheet that can make you save time. It contains a variety of exercises where you adapt the endings and choose from a multiple choice option.

A compilation of reviews and pre-play announcements taken from social media. The aim is to stimulate conversation. How do students imagine a contemporary version of the play? Characters can be cut out and students can have a go at guessing who it is. They can also have a go at writing short tweets in a similar vein about the characters. A good way to enhance their vocab in terms of adjectives. The end slide shows that the situation for some women in various parts of the world has not improved at all.

The interest of those little texts is a) to save you some time and b) to be able to give one each to a class (there are 22 of them) and get the class to practise questions leading to such tasks such as “find a person who has one brother” etc… Various lengths to differentiate around your class.

The idea is to tell students they now work for the Ministry of Immigration/ Foreign Affairs/ the Home office. They are given a fake country name and they have to decide what will be/ won’t be allowed immigration wise, what laws or rules will be in place. A list of 14 questions they have to decide upon. Designed for pair or group work then further discussion.

This worksheet shows students a step by step approach to extend their sentences and add more details.

A basic practice activity to check students have understood the endings of the present tense in Spanish

Some exercises to review question forms (especially ¿hay que…?), options to travel (with verbs of opinions), verbs salir and llegar, the time, and transport issues (discomfort, lateness, seasickness etc…)

You’ve been teaching and teaching all those really useful transactional verbs (tiene, hay, voy, quiero, me gustaría, tengo que etc…) and the learners are still muddling them all up? Here’s a quiz for revision practice. This can be set as cover work, done in class as an in-between task for finishers or a “do now” task or set as homework.

This worksheet could be either used as a cover work sheet or a take home sheet to prepare for the speaking and writing exams mostly. Can be used as a practise-out-loud task or composing conversations or writing transactional formulae e.g. in a shop, at a tourist office etc… This is also a good list as to what to cover as a minimum by the time students get to Year 9.
