Money doesn’t grow on trees. So where does it come from, and what makes it so powerful?
This Peann Jan reading comprehension pack helps young readers explore how money is earned, spent, saved, and shared, while building confidence with key reading skills.
The pack is designed to support reading progression across three levels. The Starter level focuses on core skills such as retrieval, sequencing, and basic vocabulary. The Standard level introduces more complex skills, including inference, layered meaning, and matching definitions. At the Stretch level, pupils are encouraged to think more deeply through questions on author’s intent, justification, and evaluation.
Each level explores the same core ideas to support understanding. Students learn what money is and how it helps people meet their needs. They discover different ways people earn, spend, and save money, and begin to understand the difference between needs and wants. The texts also explain why countries use different currencies and highlight how learning about money can help people make better choices.
What’s included:
- Three clearly differentiated reading texts
- Skill-mapped comprehension questions
- Answer key with skill tags for easy marking
- Traffic light self-assessment for learner reflection
- Black-and-white format for easy printing and copying
A practical pick for developing reading skills while helping pupils think more confidently about money and the world around them!
