Year 4 - Growing and Changing

Primary PSHE - Year 4 - Growing and Changing Bundle This 6-week scheme of work is taken from the [ EC Publishing Primary PSHE scheme](/teaching-resource/primary-pshe-package-12645709). Our curriculum builds progressively, leading to this Year 4 unit on Growing and Changing. This unit deepens pupils’ understanding of their bodies, emotions, and personal care as they grow. In Reception, Year 1, and Year 3, we explored a range of feelings and emotions, and learned strategies to help manage them. In Year 2, we learned about our brilliant bodies, including external private parts, as well as how to look after our teeth and establish healthy bedtime routines. In Year 4, we build on this foundation by learning about male and female anatomy, focusing on internal reproductive organs. We will explore the changes that happen during puberty - both physical and emotional - and consider how these changes can affect our feelings. We’ll also develop our understanding of personal hygiene and revisit healthy habits, such as dental care and sleep routines, as we think about how to care for our changing bodies.
