What Can Art Teach Us About the Eucharist? – KS3 Catholic RE Lesson

This thought-provoking and fully planned lesson uses the powerful African artwork The Life of Jesus MAFA: The Last Supper to explore Christian beliefs about the Eucharist. Aligned with the Catholic KS3 Religious Education Directory (RED) and using themes from the Source & Summit Year 7 textbook, students reflect on how art from different cultures expresses deep theological truths about Jesus’ final meal with his disciples.

Through visual analysis, group discussion, and creative tasks, pupils deepen their understanding of the Real Presence, community, and sacrifice—all central themes in the Eucharist. A brilliant way to link faith and global Christian expression.

  • A creative and inclusive KS3 RE lesson that celebrates culture, art, and belief.
