The precursor of the Europe of today was the Roman Empire.
It was the synthesis of conquest and occupation.
Inexorable enumerable problems shook the coherence of the provinces.
The acute magnitude of the problems led to incisive events.
A profusion of barbarians flooded in leading to an opaque dark age.

The Roman Empire laid the foundation for modern Europe, built on a fusion of
military domination and long-term occupation.
Yet, the Empire’s unity was rocked by countless persistent issues.
These intense pressures sparked major turning points in history.
Eventually, large numbers of so-called barbarians entered the territory,
ushering in the obscure and tumultuous period known as the Dark Ages.
