Here are Powerpoint slides of four lessons based on the planning from Understanding Christianity. This is aimed at Year 2 but can but easily be used for Year 3 or adapted to Year 1.

In this unit there is a variety of activities such as creative art activities as well as a writing task. This is ready to download and teach.

The learning objectives for each lesson are as follows:

**Lesson 1:Engage in the idea that God , Incarnation, Gospel and Salvation are part of the big story of the Bible. **

Children are first engaged into the unit by looking at the meaning and symbolism of hot cross buns. This links into other foods of Easter. Children recap the story of Easter through child-friendly engaging videos and order the story. They understand where Salvation (Easter) fits into the bigger story of the Bible.

Children draw a picture to go with ‘Creation’, ‘Salvation’ and ‘Incarnation’.

**Lesson 2: Enquire into stories of the Holy Week and Easter and make links with the idea of Salvation (Jesus rescuing people).
**

Children ask questions, children order the story of Easter in their books and write the emotions of Jesus and his disciples.

Lesson 3: Explore how Christians show their beliefs about Jesus in church.
Children watch videos and understand what it means to be Christian at Easter. They learn what some Christians do, how they feel and why it is important to them. Children will write a diary entry as a Christian at Easter.

Lesson 4: Evaluate and express Christian views on forgiveness.
Children will learn the concept of forgiveness through a story and then explore how this relates to Jesus in the Easter story. They will learn that holding a grudge isn’t helpful for anyone and how to move forward to forgive. They will write how themselves and Christians show forgiveness.

Lesson 5:Express what the story of Easter means to Christians.
Children will do an art project and design an Easter egg that represents Easter. They will then answer the big question of the unit which is ‘Why does Easter matter to Christians?’.
