Two Sound Sorting for ‘ow’ is a KS1 and SEND resource using licensed Boardmaker symbols and pictures to support recognition of the two pronunciations of ow (as in crown, gown, brown) and ow (as in scarecrow, bow, shadow).
The pack contains 10 sets of 3 worksheets, each set presenting eight symbols per page with space underneath for writing.
Page 1 (colour): pupils sort the pictures into the two ow sound groups and write the words beneath the symbols.
Page 2 (black and white): the same sheet but children can also colour the pictures.
Page 3 (black and white): the words are included in dotted format for tracing to provide additional handwriting support — a differentiated sequence.
There are 30 pages in total.
Extend: copy, cut out, and laminate the colour symbols for display, matching activities, or sorting games into the two ‘ow’ groups.
