Peaceful school communities are created by small actions and where you start depends on your setting. This starter pack has tools, activities and ideas for you to explore in any order to create peaceful school communities. They can be adapted to other settings too.
Who is Peace Education for?
Pupils – develop emotional literacy, self-worth and self-awareness, while they
learn new skills to listen and relate to others and resolve conflicts.
Staff – are supported and equipped to foster wellbeing, teamwork and build
connections in the classroom and playground, addressing the underlying
triggers of challenging behaviour and conflict.
The whole school community – stronger relationships and strategies lead to
a more peaceful school based on mutual respect and provide a framework to
positively address problems when they do arise.
The wider world – peace education helps us explore big issues and navigate
our complex world as thoughtful, critical, actively engaged citizens.
