This fun and engaging number rhyme follows Mother Hen and Her Seven Little Chicks on an adventure as they count down from 7 to 0 — and back up again!
Designed for EYFS learners, the rhyme is brought to life with colourful posters that can be shared with the whole class, or small groups, to encourage counting aloud, joining in with actions, and building confidence with number words.
Children will enjoy repeating the rhyme and learning it off by heart as they follow the story of the playful chicks.
(The rhyme works well as part of an assembly too)!
The resource includes two, colour worksheets where children label key items from the rhyme (e.g. barn, lamb, farmer), plus a counting and colouring worksheet where they count the chicks, colour them in, and write the numbers.
This cross-curricular resource supports early literacy, rhyme, counting skills, and speaking and listening in a joyful and memorable way.
