This full scheme for The Hobbit is absolutely brilliant. It captures the magic and adventure of Tolkien’s world while encouraging students to think deeply about themes like courage, heroism, and transformation. The lessons are clearly sequenced, with a strong balance between reading for meaning, vocabulary development, and literary analysis. It’s especially useful for introducing KS3 students to more advanced analytical writing without overwhelming them. The creative tasks also allow space for imagination and engagement — my class loved it! A masterfully designed scheme that brings Middle-earth to life.
