This comprehensive and adaptable resource pack is designed to support meaningful engagement with Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) across all secondary year groups, from Year 8 to Year 14. Drawing on guidance from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust and enriched with additional historical context and reflective prompts, this pack encourages students to explore the Holocaust and other genocides through age-appropriate discussion, empathy-building, and critical thinking.

The pack includes two double-sided worksheet activities:

  • One tailored for KS3 (Years 8–10), focusing on understanding key terms, survivor stories, and the importance of remembrance.
  • One for KS4 and KS5 (Years 11–14), encouraging deeper analysis of historical events, moral responsibility, and the legacy of genocide in the modern world.

To support flexible delivery, the pack also includes three PowerPoint presentations to choose from, each designed to suit different age groups and learning needs. These presentations include survivor testimonies, historical context, and visual prompts to guide discussion and reflection. They can be used in History-led lessons, pastoral sessions, or whole-school assemblies.

Perfect for use in January or as part of a wider scheme on human rights, conflict, or 20th-century history, this resource helps students connect the past to the present and reflect on the importance of standing up to hatred and prejudice.
