Students are introduced to the knowledge and exam skills needed to examine the Historic Environment of Notting Hill, c.1948-c.1970.

The 17 slide fully resourced lesson contains activities, tasks, practice exam questions, printable resources and all background knowledge:

  • Slide 4: Overall unit subject knowledge overview
  • Slide 5: Exam questions for the Historic Environment
  • Slide 6: Starter - What are sources and what is an ‘enquiry’?
  • Slide 7-8: Task 1 - A choice of two photographic sources about Notting Hill. Students are simply encourage to ask questions about the photographs to get them using the skills needed for the ‘Follow Up’ question.
  • Slide 9: Task 2 - Students are given 6 example questions and have to decide which type of source (from a choice of 8) they would pick to help answer the question.
  • Slide 10: Task 3 - What kind of sources do students think they would be able to use from this time?
  • Slide 11: A printable sheet with a list of sources that students can use for the ‘Follow Up’ question - great for sticking in a book as reference.
  • Slide 12: Task 4 - A practice at the ‘How useful’ exam question
  • Slide 13-15 - Task 5 - A multiple choice quiz which assesses student knowledge about Notting Hill at this time. Answers and printable sheets included.
