Lesson Title: Families and Relationships – Understanding Identity, Change, and Legal Union (PSHE / RSE)
This inclusive and reflective KS3/KS4 PSHE lesson explores the variety of family structures and relationships in modern Britain. Students learn about marriage, cohabitation, divorce, and how families influence identity and values. Through matching tasks, mind maps, and real-life scenario discussions, learners develop empathy and respect for diverse family forms.

Lesson Aims:

Identify different types of families (e.g. nuclear, extended, single-parent, same-sex)

Understand how families influence identity, values, beliefs, and culture

Explore the legal and emotional meaning of marriage and cohabitation
