Support your students in developing their sentence reading and writing skills with this engaging, phonics-focused Building Sentences Activity. Each sentence highlights a specific sound, helping children connect phonics knowledge with sentence structure in a fun, hands-on way.

What’s Included:

  • 12 pages, each containing 2 sentence cards (total of 24 cards)

Each page includes:

  • Two simple, decodable sentence, a visual representation of the sentence for support
  • The individual words of both sentences, ready to cut out and reorder

Colour-coded components:
Blue: Capital letters and punctuation (e.g., full stops)
Red: Letters or digraphs representing the target sound of the sentence

How to Use:

Children select one of the 24 sentence cards. They look at the picture and read the sentence. Using the cut-out words, they build the sentence by putting the words in the correct order.

The colour coding provides helpful visual cues for phonics and sentence structure.
