AQA English Language Paper 1 Q5/creative writing/Section B/narrative writing lesson that explores genre and genre conventions and how these can affect readers.

Students build on previous learning, knowledge and understanding by analysing genre conventions that they are already familiar with, reflecting on how these conventions may impact on readers, before evaluating how genre conventions are used or manipulated in film clips.

Finally, students analyse a short extract from a ghost story and explore how the extract contains conventions for a ghost story and why.

This lesson provides an opportunity for students to consider how they will genre and tropes in their own creative writing pieces in order to improve their style, communication, cohesion and coherence in their own writing.
