This is a 95 page PowerPoint that can be used in the delivery of Functional Skills Writing Level 1. This PPT includes everything learners need to know in order to pass their writing assessment (it is based on the level NCFE/City & Guilds awarding body criteria).

The learner will pick one of the characters from a book they are reading and then create an Instagram profile for that character.
Worksheet Instructions: Choose a character out of the book that you are reading and create a social media profile based on this character.Following this, create 3 posts to show your understanding of this character and their personality traits.

Unseen Poetry: Introduction Worksheet on Poetry: 'The Mirror.'
A worksheet to introduce KS3 or KS4 students to what to initially look for when they first read a poem.
There are questions on the sheet to prompt them to read the poem and then answer the questions including:
What the poem is about
Why certain words and phrases are used
What the mood and atmosphere of the poem is
Who the narrator of the poem is.
I have purposely left out the title of the poem, as I wanted my group to guess what the object ( the mirror) is.

Uses for this document
Get your learners to pick one of the eight key themes. For each poem under that theme, they have to locate a quote from that poem. The quote should relate to the theme.

Functional Skills English SPAG Workbook Tasks - 16 pages, E3 - L1
This is a sixteen page workbook that features a number of different tasks. It focuses on spelling, punctuation and grammar and can be used beside the functional skills writing module. After you have showed them the important SPAG techniques, they can then practice what they have learnt and work their way through this booklet.
This is aimed at Entry 3 / Low level 1 learners. The tasks included are as followed:
