This is a 95 page PowerPoint that can be used in the delivery of Functional Skills Writing Level 1. This PPT includes everything learners need to know in order to pass their writing assessment (it is based on the level NCFE/City & Guilds awarding body criteria). The PPT gives learners an overview of the following: Introduction to the Writing Module Text, Audience, Purpose Planning & Drafting Purpose of a Text How to Write a Formal Letter How to Write an Email How to Write an Article How to Write a Review How to Write a Report How to Write a Blog How to Write a Leaflet Thereis a step-by-step guide of how to structure and format each text and examples are given throughout the slides. Following this, practice exam questions (that have been created by myself) are then shown on screen. These questions are based on each text type. There are 8 writing tasks to complete in total.

A worksheet to introduce KS3 or KS4 students to what to initially look for when they first read a poem. There are questions on the sheet to prompt them to read the poem and then answer the questions including: What the poem is about Why certain words and phrases are used What the mood and atmosphere of the poem is Who the narrator of the poem is. I have purposely left out the title of the poem, as I wanted my group to guess what the object ( the mirror) is.

This is a sixteen page workbook that features a number of different tasks. It focuses on spelling, punctuation and grammar and can be used beside the functional skills writing module. After you have showed them the important SPAG techniques, they can then practice what they have learnt and work their way through this booklet. This is aimed at Entry 3 / Low level 1 learners. A two page PPT which includes: the poem, 3 tasks based on the poem and a PEE paragraph questions for KS3 learners to answer.

Their task is to fill in the jigsaw piece with things that represent their identity. Think of it as a Coat of Arms: which is a symbolic representation of an individual’s identity and values. They can add things in such as their hobbies, family, friends, pets, favourite books, TV shows, football teams or future goals.
