This short story is aimed at promoting young student´s phonemic awareness, specifically the sound [ou].

Students will engage in an inquiry activity to learn about an artist (e.g. sculptor, painter, etc.) of their choice. They will learn a wide range of vocabulary and present their artist and their work of art with the vocabulary they have learned. This will also help them gain confidence in their oral speaking skills.

Students will learn common expressions and greetings in French. This is ideal for beginner students. They can work in small groups to figure out as many meanings as they can and then figure out the remaining expressions using a useful online dictionary tool such as Wordreference.com

Students will be introduced to the definite and indefinite articles in French through this interactive presentation.

Students will learn vocabulary related to the Christmas holidays through a series of interactive activities enabling them to practice their oral, reading, and writing comprehension skills.

This game will enable students to practice using vocabulary to describe people (hair colour, eye colour, etc.) in French. Extra support: Students requiring extra support can be given a vocabulary sheet with descriptor words and expressions to talk about hair and eye colour in French. Materials required to play this game in the classroom: A pair of dice for each group of students (The number of groups will depend on how many students you have in your classroom.)

Students will be able to practice their French conversation skills through engaging in this interactive speaking activity on the theme of food. Tips for use in the classroom: Have students take turns asking each other the questions working in small groups of 3 or 4.

They will practice their oral comprehension and speaking skills through interactive activities involving videos and role plays. As an extension activity, students can describe a favourite recipe of theirs. Rubrics included for both activities.
