Primary PSHE - Year 3 - Careers and Skills Scheme of Work

This 5-week scheme of work is taken from the EC Publishing Primary PSHE scheme.

Our curriculum builds progressively, leading to this Year 3 unit on Careers and Skills. In Reception, we were introduced to jobs and community helpers through stories like Clothesline Clues to Jobs People Do by Kathryn Heling. In Year 1, we learned about our strengths and interests, and how people in our communities help others through their jobs. In Year 2, we explored how people earn money through the work they do and discussed different types of jobs.

In this Year 3 unit, we continue to build on that learning by exploring jobs and careers in more detail. We will learn about the sectors different jobs belong to, the skills needed for different roles, and how studying can lead to qualifications. We will also begin to understand gender stereotypes and why everyone should feel free to choose the job or career that is right for them.

You can find the bundle here: Year 3 - Careers and Skills Bundle

The unit includes the following lessons:
1.Jobs and Sectors
2. Careers and Skills
3. Targets and Goals
4. Career Routes
5. Stereotypes
