How Should We Live? | Year 7 Catholic RE Lesson – KS3

This fully resourced Year 7 lesson explores Catholic teaching on how we should live by focusing on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and the Works of the Flesh. Aligned with the KS3 Religious Education Directory (RED) and Source & Summit, pupils learn how these spiritual gifts and failings guide moral choices and behaviour.

Written for pupils with a reading age of around 10, the lesson includes clear, simple definitions of key terms, corrects common misconceptions, and uses accessible scripture references (such as Galatians 5:16-26) to support understanding. Engaging activities and PEEL-style writing tasks encourage pupils to reflect on how living by the Fruits of the Holy Spirit—like love, joy, and kindness—can shape their character, while avoiding the negative Works of the Flesh.

Ideal for Catholic RE teachers looking for a sensitive, scaffolded lesson that helps pupils connect faith with daily choices about how to live well.
