Welcome to Episode 3 of Word of the Week! Our new word is COLOSSAL, a powerful adjective that helps children describe gigantic characters, settings, and events in their writing with more imagination, confidence, and precision.

Colossal means something that is extremely, unbelievably large or impressive from colossal whales and colossal mountains, to colossal statues and even our colossal universe! Sometimes we even use it for exaggeration: " That was a colossal pizza! "

Teacher Challenge: After watching, encourage your pupils to write their best sentences using colossal. Share them in the comments below along with the first name and country of the pupil, and I will give them a shout-out in a future episode! The slides available in this resource feature some activities you can share with your class.

Perfect for Key Stage 2 classrooms, teachers, parents, and home-schoolers can use this series to grow vocabulary with fun, ambitious words they will remember and enjoy using.

New episodes drop every Sunday, ready for you to use in class on Monday mornings.
