All Aboard the Story Train! – ‘The Train Ride’ Story Sequencing Maps (2 Versions)
Bring the journey to life with this beautifully designed sequencing activity, perfect for EYFS and KS1 learners. Based on the much-loved children’s book The Train Ride by June Crebbin, this resource supports story retelling, sequencing skills, sentence writing, and visual literacy – all in one engaging task.
What’s Included?
This pack contains 2 differentiated story map templates for children to sequence the events of the story:
Version 1 – A classic layout with 8 clearly numbered boxes (1–8). Children can draw key scenes from the train ride in each box and write a super sentence underneath describing what the character sees out of the window.
Version 2 – A playful alternative with 9 numbered boxes travelling along a train track. This version adds a sense of movement and fun while encouraging careful sequencing and observation. Children still have space to write a sentence or two about what is seen at each stage of the journey.
Also, a Teacher Guide on how to use the resource to get the most out of the resource.
