The new GCSE puts a strong emphasis on grammar manipulation, but success in productive skills, still depends on students being able to give detailed, well-structured opinions. To support this, I’ve created a complete introductory lesson that launches a system students can start using from KS3 onwards. It includes a clear presentation, a detailed (adaptable) sentence builder, and Conti-style activities designed to introduce a simple yet powerful mnemonic. This mnemonic helps students express detailed opinions on any topic, and it can easily be adapted to add complexity and a range of tenses as they progress. It’s a flexible, scaffolded approach that builds confidence and fluency over time.
