
This CPD session presentation will provide secondary school staff with practical guidance on how to recognise key warning signs, approach sensitive conversations, and implement effective support strategies in a school setting.
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that can significantly impact students’ wellbeing, engagement, and academic progress. Since the pandemic, referrals for eating disorders have doubled, and teachers are often the first trusted adults students turn to for help.
Staff will learn about how to :
- Understand what eating disorders are and how they impact students physically and emotionally.
- Recognise early warning signs and changes in behaviour that may indicate a student is struggling.
- Develop strategies to provide compassionate, appropriate support within the school environment.
- Know when and how to escalate concerns and signpost to specialist support services.
