Help students build life skills by learning how to read and interpret medicine labels. Ideal for SEN learners and Functional Skills preparation.
This downloadable PDF module supports teenagers and young adults - particularly those with special educational needs - in developing essential reading and comprehension skills through the practical context of over-the-counter medicines.

The resource includes:

• 8 sheets featuring fictional medicine packets and labels using realistic medical language
• Question sheets for each medicine with a mix of fact retrieval, inference, and opinion-based tasks (answer sheets included)
• A glossary to support pupils with more challenging technical terms (optional use)
• A mixed-questions sheet covering all medicines to assess understanding and application
• Optional extension activity: researching, recording, and comparing medicine prices
• Further suggestions for presenting and discussing research findings

Most of the module is set in a dyslexia-friendly font at 14pt for accessibility. Some text on medicine labels is deliberately smaller to reflect real-world packaging. Pupils can be shown how to use page magnifiers or take screen shots with a phone or tablet to enlarge text.

Perfect for building confidence in reading real-life texts, encouraging independence, and supporting Functional Skills outcomes.
