Preterit IR stem change verbs sentence completion and conjugation practice

Guidelines:

1. Complete each sentence with the correct preterit conjugation with the appropriate stem change, where needed, and add 4-5 additional words to expand on the sentence. Your sentences must make sense and should not be repetitive (using the same words over and over). *No collaboration or on-line translators.

2. Complete the table with the preterit conjugations of the infinitive.

Note: The English translation of each infinitive is included.

*Students will write a total of 8 sentences.

Infinitives included:

E-I stem change: Pedir, Servir, Repetir, Competir, Seguir, Vestirse

O-U: Dormir, Morir

*A table with -IR preterit endings is included for reference.

Sample:

1. Pedir: to ask for, to order

*Complete the table with the conjugations of Pedir for the following subjects: Tú , Él / Ella / Ud. , Nosotros, Vosotros, Ellos / Ellas / Uds.

Answer key is included on pages 4-6 for the conjugations only. For the sentences, student answers will vary.
