This lesson includes a PowerPoint presentation used for teaching the topic of Present Perfect and Simple Past Tense.
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: identify the past and present, understand that the present perfect tense is different from the simple past tense, sort sentences that include present perfect and simple past, and write their own present perfect sentences.
The lesson is ideal for Year 4, as the simple present and simple past tenses will have been covered in Year 3. This lesson is the next step toward understanding tenses in their different forms.
The lesson includes two tasks: Sentence Sorting and a “Visit to the Doctor” activity, in which children describe their “symptoms” using present perfect sentences.
