Numbuko is a creative numeracy iPad app for those teaching children aged 3-8 years.

Numbuko is an open ended environment consisting of blocks that change colour according to the number of blocks attached in a row. In essence, Numbuko integrates aspects of unit blocks, Cuisenaire rods and Dienes blocks. Numbuko lets children explore relationships for numbers 1 -99 and can be used to teach and learn a wide range of concepts by bringing number relationships to life through colour.

Numbuko is free with no advertising or in app purchases. I created Numbuko as part of a publically funded (ESRC) project investigating how materials shape how children think and learn mathematics. The app also provides information about the research.
