Student-centered fitness assessments and reflection task, followed by a personalized 1-week fitness plan to develop goal-setting and self-awareness.
This resource supports MYP 1 – Grade 7 students in understanding and applying key fitness concepts through both formative and summative assessments. In the formative task, students complete four standard fitness tests (Beep Test, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Sit and Reach), record their results, and reflect on their performance using guided questions. This helps them analyze their strengths and areas for improvement based on the components of fitness.
The summative task, titled “My Fitness Challenge Week”, builds on this by having students set 1–2 SMART fitness** goals and design a personal 1-week fitness plan (minimum 4 sessions). They select activities, define intensity and duration, and specify which fitness components are targeted.
After completing the program, students reflect on their consistency, challenges, and outcomes, aligning with Criterion A (Knowing and Understanding) and Criterion D (Reflecting and Improving Performance). The resource promotes autonomy, critical thinking, and lifelong health awareness.
