This Home Economics symbol-supported book (to make) is designed for SEND and KS1 children to explore key concepts in food and daily living through a clear, visual, and accessible format.
The 20-page resource features nine colourful symbols on each page, grouped around topics such as skills and techniques (e.g. stirring, chopping), common kitchen equipment (e.g. whisk, bowl), food items (e.g. fruit, bread), actions (e.g. wash, mix), measures (e.g. teaspoon, tablespoon), and feelings related to cooking and participation (e.g. I like that, finished).
The consistent layout and visual supports help children build understanding, confidence, and independence while linking closely to early PSHE, life skills, and functional learning.
It can be used in class or at home and offers flexibly for naming, matching, discussion, sequencing tasks, or preparing for real-life cooking activities.
Boardmaker Licenced.
