A compilation of high-yield quotes from La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz, suitable for A Level French / Film studies. There were no French subtitles on my edition of the movie, which made catching what the characters were saying difficult at many points in the film - I hope you find this document useful!

I achieved A* in my French A Level in 2024 using this sheet.

I highly recommend going through this document and memorising two or three quotes for each character/theme, and making a mindmap with each character/theme, drawing out whatever analysis you can make using the quotes and other moments in the movie. Being able to see the movie as a whole is the key to being able to tackle any essay! (But most likely it’ll be about violence or identity so prepare those extra hard!!)
