Used as part of a wider SOW exploring 19th Century Literature, here is a series of activities used in our English lessons for studying Lewis Carroll’s novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
- Exploring the Preface Poem and Chapter 1
- The Caucus Race (considering surrealism)
- Assorted (looking at homophones inspired by ‘The Mouse’s Tail/Tale’ and creating Wonderland Top Trump Characters).
- Alice and the Caterpillar (exploring interpretation and adaptation)
- The Mad Hatter (attention to synonyms and inference)
- Political Parody: Satire in the novel
As this was made for a very mixed ability class, you will note there are some very accessible starters and activities and some lessons which are aimed at higher ability (i.e. charactonyms and politcal parody).
There is an emphasis on cultural capital.
This is designed to be as a resource pack to dip in and out of while exploring the novel.
