A 1hr lesson on the underground railroad. Can be taught as stand alone or as part of a series of lessons on the slave trade. The lesson begins with an engaging starter hook and then progresses onto activities including a pictionary, an undeground railroad board game (where pupils are encouraged to escape from the south to north while uncovering obstacles along the way. Pupils then write up their journey in a diary entry. An active learning activity.
